I live in an area that has extremely hard water. Unfortunately, I can't afford a water softening system, yet. My scalp is suffering! I can keep my hair shiny, but my scalp gets very dry (weird). I don't want to grease my scalp with products, but I don't know what else to do. My stylist suggested I do a hot oil treatment in place of conditioner for one shampoo.
How do I cope with hard water on my relaxed hair?
Here's some background, I use Dudley's Moisturizing Shampoo, their Cream Protein Moisturizing Conditioner, and their Styling Foam. I also have a bottle of KeraCare's Essential Oils for the Hair. I shampoo and condition my hair once a week (trying to alternate with conditioning washes w/Suave Tropical Coconut or Suave Milk and Honey up to twice a week). I wrap my hair with the styling foam and use a few drops of the oil after it dries under my hooded dryer.
I look forward to all of your suggestions.

! I've never heard of the creme or wipes, but I'll have to check them out. I like KeraCare products and my stylist mentioned
the brand Redken to me before. I look forward to seeing you in other posts. Thanks for the advice.

! I haven't purchased the shower filter, yet
. I
have to get some more information on the benefits of a hot oil treatment before I try it.
